Public Transport Strike in Cologne: 27 & 28 February
Please be aware that there is a public transport strike in Cologne that will affect our meeting. You can find timetables for the services that will continue to run here: https://www.kvb.koeln/fahrtinfo/streik.html
The Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) reports that:
- All city trams (Stadtbahnen), that is lines number 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 18, will not run.
- Most buses will also not operate, but a few bus services run by subcontractors might still make limited trips. These will be listed in the KVB online timetable or app closer to the day (this is only available in German, we will provide more information when we have it).
- Customer service centers will be closed during the strike.
- Regional trains (S-Bahn, RE/RB) and long-distance Deutsche Bahn (DB) services, such as IC and ICE, are not part of this strike and should run as usual. Note that:
- To arrive to Köln Süd, a few minutes by foot from the conference venue, the RE 5, RB 26, and RB 48 will run.
- To get to the CGN Airport from the main station (Köln HBF), the S 19, RE 6, and RB 27 will run.
- To get to the Düsseldorf airport from Köln HBF, the S 11 and RE 1 will run.
Please plan extra travel time and consider alternatives such as taxis/Uber, cycling, or walking.
If needed, we can make a taxi reservation for you by phone, just approach the registration desk with your departure time and your accommodation’s address.
Thanks for your understanding, and we hope you still enjoy your time here in Cologne!
